Atiku’s Defection Can’t Stop Buhari’s Re-election – Hon. Abiru

The Chief Whip of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rotimi Abiru, has insisted that the defection of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will not stop the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The lawmaker representing Shomolu constituency II said this was because the former vice president contributed to the problems of Nigerians.

The lawmaker stated that the achievements of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would give it overwhelming victory during the next year general election.

Abiru said that Atiku’s influence would not save him if he eventually gets PDP ticket to contest against Buhari in 2019.

He said: “Atiku’s defection to PDP is not a threat to APC in 2019 but it depends on the way you look at it.

“There is no doubt that Atiku is a big fish. But don’t forget that he was a member of the former ruling party PDP and the problems plaguing Nigeria were orchestrated by the former ruling party.

“It is very clear to me that Atiku is pursuing an agenda and he goes to any platform he feels he could realise his ambition.

“I don’t think Nigerians are so forgetful because part of the problems plaguing Nigeria were orchestrated by the past government under which Atiku served as vice president.”
