Tanzania gaffer Emmanuel Amuneke has expressed happiness with his team after they drew blank with Uganda in a 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier, Saturday.

The former Nigeria international took over the Taifa Stars job about two months ago, charged with taking the team to the 2019 Afcon in Cameroon.

Speaking after the game with the Cranes, the 1996 Olympic gold medalist noted that even though he is new on the job, the draw showed the team is improving.

“We looked at ourselves and worked with our strengths. I have only been with the team for 10 days,” Amuneke said.

“I am really happy with them. They want to be a new breed of Tanzanian players,” Amuneke told reporters after the game.”

The draw leave Tanzania without a win in the Group L race for Cameroon.

In June 2017, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Lesotho in their first game and will take on Cape Verde next month in continuation of the qualifying series.
