Police Confirm Death Of Five Persons In Fresh Plateau Attack

Unknown gunmen have killed Boniface Okloho, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.

Concise News understands that Okloho was shot and killed on Friday along Ijamin Road in Otukpo while he was returning from a political meeting.

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police Command, Moses Yamu, the Commissioner of Police in the State, Omololu Bishi, has ordered an investigation into the incident.

The CP warned politicians and their supporters against violence in the coming elections.

APC’s State Publicity Secretary, James Ornguga, also confirmed the assassination of Okloho, adding, that the party would speak about the murder after its scheduled meeting at a later date.

“The APC chairman of Ohimini LGA, Boniface Okloho was assassinated on the election eve,” Ornguga stated.

Also reacting, Benue APC governorship candidate Emmanuel Jime condemned the killing.

Jime, who urged security operatives to arrest the suspects, expressed sorrow about the gruesome murder of the chieftain.

He sued for peace and brotherliness in politics in the state.

Jime said: “I condemn in very strong terms, this unnecessary politics of violence and bloodshed that has claimed the life of Mr. Okloho, our beloved brother and staunch member of our great party in Ohimini.

“Okloho was one of the committed leaders of our party in Zone C. We regret that he lost his life in such a horrible circumstance, in the service of his state and his party. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”
