Ambode Appoints New Auditor-General For Local Governments

The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the appointment of Mrs. Adesumbo Idiat Abolarin as the Auditor-General for Local Governments in the State following the statutory retirement of the incumbent, Musibau Olatunji Jimoh who served from 2014 to 2018.

Speaking at the retirement ceremony and 60th birthday celebration of the outgoing Auditor-General at Haven Event Center, Ikeja, the Chairman, Lagos State Audit Service Commission, Alhaji Waliu Onibon announced the appointment of the new helmsman by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

While congratulating Jimoh on his meritorious service to the State, Alhaji Onibon said, “Today is a great day for Musibau Jimoh but another news had surfaced. I have been directed by the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to announce the appointment of Adesumbo Abolarin as the Substantive Auditor-General of Local Governments of Lagos State.”

He urged Abolarin to maintain and improve the global standard of auditing achieved by her predecessors in further taking Lagos State to greater and enviable heights through thorough and effective auditing.

The outgoing Auditor-General,  Jimoh congratulated Abolarin on her appointment, saying Lagos State Government has indeed put a round peg in a round hole by appointing Abolarin whom he described as the right person for the job.

Responding, newly appointed Auditor-General for Local Governments, Mrs. Abolarin thanked the State Government for trusting her with the opportunity to serve and shoulder auditing responsibility for people of the State.

Before her appointment, Abolarin was the Director, Project and Inter-Governmental Relations in the office of Auditor-General and had previously served as Council Treasurer at various Local Governments in the State.
