President Muhammadu Buhari has assured his government will employ more qualified teachers to improve the teacher-to-pupil ratio in Nigeria.
Concise News reports that Buhari made the promise on Tuesday in Abuja when the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) visited him at the State House.
According to the Nigerian leader, his government has created several platforms, like the N-Power Teach, to enhance the quality of teachers in public schools in the country.
“We’ve created a dedicated platform under the National Social Investment Programme called N-Power Teach, which engages qualified graduates to man the gaps of basic education delivery in Nigeria,” Buhari said.
“The aim of this, and many other Government programmes, is to increase the teacher-student ratio at the primary school level thereby enhancing the quality of students moving to secondary schools.”
