Imo: Ihedioha Will Bounce Back, Atiku Reacts To S' Court Ruling

Atiku Abubakar is optimistic Emeka Ihedioha will “emerge stronger” in spite of the Supreme Court ruling that sacked the latter as the Imo State Governor.

Concise News reported that the Supreme Court, Tuesday, nullified the victory of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 Imo State governorship election.

In its ruling, the apex court declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful winner of the poll and asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue him a certificate of return.

Reacting to the judgment, Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate in the 2019 general election, in a series of tweets on his verified handle, expressed optimism that with time, the ousted PDP candidate would reemerge stronger.

He also called on the PDP and Ihedioha to respect the rule of law, assuring that he stands with the main opposition party at all times.

“With regards to the judgment of the Supreme Court, which nullified the election of the candidate of the @OfficialPDPNig @EmekaIhedioha, as Governor of the state of Imo, I can only say that since the Supreme Court is final, we must accept its judgment,” he said.

“Let me state unequivocally that I solidarize with @EmekaIhedioha, a man I know to be a great leader of men and resources. In the fullness of time, I am convinced that he will overcome this setback and emerge stronger.”

He added: “However unexpected and unpalatable it may be. The Rule of law must guide our paths even if logic sheds light on a different path.

“I also stand fully with the Peoples Democratic Party. In good and bad times, we must continue to be the object of hope that the Nigerian people have for their escape from the prevailing despotism and despair that has gripped almost every aspect of our national life.

“We provided genuine democracy for this nation once before, and I believe it is our destiny to democratically restore what has been lost due to the encroachment of anti-democratic agents.”
