1. INEC Declares Winner Of Bayelsa Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared David Lyon, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the governorship election held in Bayelsa State on Saturday. According to officials results announced by INEC, Lyon polled 352,552 to defeat his closest rival, Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 143,172 votes.

2. Kogi West: INEC Declares Election Inconclusive, Gives Reason

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the senatorial election conducted in Kogi West on Saturday inconclusive. The reason the poll was declared inconclusive was that the lead margin between Smart Adeyemi who polled 80,118 votes and Dino Melaye who got 59,548 was 20,570 which was lower than the 43,127 registered voters in 53 polling units of 20 registration areas in the zone.

3. APC Defeats PDP To Take Over Bayelsa State (Full Results)

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), David Lyon, has garnered the highest number of votes in the Bayelsa governorship election. In the results of the eight locals government areas of the state called by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Lyon defeated Douye Diri, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in six.

4. INEC Postpones Collation Of Kogi Governorship Result

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has adjourned collation of results for the Kogi governorship election following the declaration of results from 19 of 21 local government areas of the State. The suspension of the collation process was announced by the returning officer for the election, Prof Ibrahim Garba after the announcement of result from Dekina Local Government Area.

5. Dino Melaye Reacts To Kogi Election Results (Video)

Dino Melaye, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Kogi West Senatorial rerun, has referred to the results as ‘fictitious.’ Concise News understands that Melaye needs more than 14,500 votes to defeat Smart Adeyemi and return to the Nigerian Senate as the representative of Kogi West.

The European Union has frowned at reports of widespread incidents of violence and voter intimidation in Bayelsa and Kogi states during elections on Saturday. The Diplomatic Watch, in a statement, also expressed alarm at the reports of fatalities and missing people, urging stakeholders to call for calm.

7. Kogi Decides 2019: YIAGA Asks INEC To Cancel Election

YIAGA Africa, a civil society organisation, has charged INEC to conduct a new election, saying Saturday’s did not reflect the votes of the people, irrespective of the results. The group said political parties and security agencies compromised the credibility of the Kogi state governorship and senatorial elections.

8. Kidnapped Enugu Catholic Priest Regains Freedom

Rev. Fr. Theophilus Ndulue, the Catholic Priest abducted by unknown gunmen in Enugu has been released, the police spokesman in Enugu said. SP Ebere Amaraizu said on Sunday that Ndulue has also been reunited with the Catholic Diocese of Enugu.

9. INEC Speaks On Missing Ad-hoc Staff In Kogi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that all its 30 ad-hoc staff in Olamaboro Local Government area of Kogi are safe and back in their respective homes after Saturday’s governorship election. The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, had spoken with some of the ad-hoc staff who confirmed their safety.

10. Nigeria Come From Behind To Maul Lesotho 4-2

Nigeria came from behind to defeat Lesotho 4-2 in their second Group L qualifying game for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. Victor Osimhen reacted quickly in Maseru with two goals and two assists as the Super Eagles showed resilience to turn around a goal deficit and grab maximum points.
