Taraba: Catholic Bishops, Priests Condemn Tiv-Jukun Crises, Suggest Ways To End Bloodletting
As Benue and Taraba states worry, Catholic Bishops and priests of Abuja and Jos Ecclesiastical provinces have condemned the Jukun-Tiv crises that have claimed many lives.
The clerics in a communiqué after a meeting at Centre for Dialogue, Reconciliation and Peace (DREP), Jos, on Tuesday suggested ways to end the bloodletting.
The meeting which was chaired by Most Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, Apostolic Administrator of Jos, and Coadjutor Archbishop of Abuja, said that nobody was spared in the unfortunate situation. Read more here.
Taraba Governor Reveals Number Of Kidnappings Recorded Under One Year
Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state on Thursday, said that the state recorded over 100 cases of kidnapping between January and September.
Ishaku disclosed this in Jalingo at a one-day training for the conduct of “Operation Ayem-Akpatuma II“ by the 3 Division,Nigerian Army, Jos.
The governor said that 30 kidnappings were recorded in September alone, adding that victims of kidnapping in the state lost between N200 and N250 million to kidnappers.
The governor said that the state government had provided 26 motorcycles and two Hilux vans to support the effort the Federal Government in fighting crime in the state. Read more here.
