N-Power: Check Out Latest ‘Update’ On September Stipends

Check Out Latest ‘Update’ On September Stipends

The Job Creation and Youth Employment initiative of the Nigerian government is domiciled in the office of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo

As a new week starts and N-Power beneficiaries throughout Nigeria are yet to get paid their September stipends, they are bothered, Concise News reports.

This online news medium observed that beneficiaries nationwide are yet to get paid their last month’s stipends.

Being the sixth day of a new month, volunteers are unhappy with the constant delay, considering Federal government workers (which N-Power beneficiaries are also classified) are believed to have received their ‘alert’.

About N-Power

The N-Power Programme is a job creation and skills empowerment programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

According to the FG, it is designed to help young Nigerians acquire and develop life-long skills to become practical solution providers in their communities, enabling them to become innovative players in the domestic and global markets.

The programme is for young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 35.

The FG says the main policy thrust of the N-Power scheme is to harness large-scale skill development in the country.

Every month, the Nigerian government spends about N15 billion as stipends on over 500,000 volunteers of  the N-Power scheme, a component of the National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIP).

These beneficiaries earn a monthly stipend of N30, 000 (approximately 83 USD).

Dubbed as the largest post-tertiary employment programme in Africa, the Muhammadu Buhari government sees the scheme as one of its major achievements.

Headquartered under the office of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, N-Teach is the most popular of the N-SIP, which also focuses on health, agriculture and public finance in the graduate category of the scheme.

Two batches have been recruited since the launch of the programme in 2016.
