UK-born Liverpool loanee, Sheyi Babajide Ojo has stated that he is available for selection for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Concise News reports that Ojo, 22 – now tentatively with Rangers of Scotland- despite being part of the England U-20 World Cup-winning squad expressed his desire to represent Nigeria at senior level.
After witnessing the positives gathered by Joe Aribo at international level, the Liverpool academy graduate has seen how this can be a positive route for young English players of Nigerian descent.
“I have made it known that I am willing to switch allegiance to Nigeria,” said Sheyi Ojo [Scottish Sun].
“I will be glad if I am called up because just like Joe Aribo I also want to play for Nigeria at senior level.
“It’s up to the coaches to decide on picking up in the squad and in the meantime, all I have to do is to keep doing my best at Rangers and hope I get noticed.”
Ojo makes bold claim about rivals Celtic
Meanwhile, Ojo has repeated his claim that Rangers are the best team in Scotland, after Steven Gerrard’s side closed the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to one point, as they chase on rivals Celtic.
The on-loan winger ruffled Celtic fans’ feathers when he joined Rangers this summer, by claiming that he was heading to the best team in the league.
Ojo has backed the Gers to have a successful season.

After Steven Gerrard’s side won 5-0 at home to Aberdeen at the weekend, the forward confirmed his view that Rangers are the team to beat this season.
“I stand by what I said and I think Rangers are on a good run of form,” said Ojo.
“We are doing really well so far this season and we are looking hungry.
“It can only be a positive for any team that looks hungry and is getting wins.
“Of course we have to give Celtic respect but, from my own opinion, I believe we can have a really successful season.
“We weren’t really thinking about Celtic and the Hibs game before kick-off at Aberdeen. We just focused on ourselves and got the job done.
“We saw the result, but as long as we keep focusing on ourselves then everything else will take care of itself.
“We don’t really worry about the other teams around us.
“We have just got to keep doing what we are doing and keep getting the results and hopefully we can have a successful season.”
