Shiites: DSS Speaks On Releasing El-Zakzaky

The Department of State Services (DSS) has said it will immediately release the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) Ibrahim El-Zakaky.

Concise News had reported that a court on Monday ruled that Ibrahim El-Zakaky should be released to travel to India for medical attention.

Members of the IMN known as Shiites have been proscribed by the Federal Government after a series of protests for the release of their leader.

According to a statement by the DSS on Monday, the Islamic clergyman will be released immediately for medical treatment.

“Consequently, the Service is liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance,”  the statement read.

“Conformity with the order is in line with the Service’s avowed commitment to the Rule of Law inherent in a democracy.”
