Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard has advised midfielder Danny Drinkwater to depart the club, Daily Mail UK reports.
Concise News learned that the England midfielder was not part of Chelsea’s squad that beat Red Bull Salzburg 5-3 on Wednesday night.
The former Leicester City midfielder also did not make it to Germany for Chelsea’s final pre-season friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.
Drinkwater did not appear for any single competitive game under former manager, Maurizio Sarri, last season.
However, Brighton’s manager, Graham Potter has already shown interest to sign the England player.
The newspaper reports that the Brighton manager is eager to bring the player on a season-long loan deal to improve his midfield options.
Chelsea bought the former Drinkwater for £35m after he assisted Leicester City to win the Premier League with the Foxes in 2016.
He has made just five Premier League starts in his two years with Chelsea.
