The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has frowned at the recent move by the Nigerian government to ban the Shiite group known as the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).
Kanu, whose IPOB was similarly proscribed by the Federal Government in 2017 while condemning the action through his Twitter handle on Monday, described Nigeria as an official terrorist State “where harmless #IPOB & #Shiite are slaughtered, detained & declared terrorists while MACBAN (Fulani herdsmen) listed as the 4th deadliest terrorists in the world are paid, pampered & invited to attend conference in Minna. Incredible!”
Concise News recalls that the Federal Government on Friday obtained a court order to proscribe the movement and declare them as a terrorist group.
Justice Nkeonye Maha issued the order in a ruling in which she designated the activities of the Shiite organisation in any part of Nigeria “as acts of terrorism and illegality.”
The court also barred “any person or group of persons” from participating in any form of activities involving the Islamic Movement of Nigeria “under any name or platform” in the country.
