Belgium international Thomas Vermaelen has joined Japanese side Vissel Kobe after his contract with Barcelona ended.
Concise News understands that Vermaelen’s contract with Vissel Kobe runs until December 2021.
The defender, 33, reunites with his former Barca team-mates Andres Iniesta and Sergi Samper, ex-Blaugrana man, David Villa and former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski.
With Barca, the Belgian made 53 appearances in all competitions in four seasons.
He spent the 2016/2017 campaign on loan at Serie A outfit Roma, playing just 12 games.
“When I came here, I had a very warm welcome and a lot of support,” Vermaelen said after signing for Vissel Kobe.
“I can’t wait to start. I’m excited about it. I would like to do my best to improve the team.”
