Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai has noted that the military will only stay away from elections if electronic voting is adopted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Concise News understands that Buratai said this following criticism of the military and other security agencies in the 2019 elections.
He spoke through a representative Brig. Gen John Ochai at a one day stakeholders roundtable on the review of the 2019 general elections in Abuja, on Thursday.
According to him, Nigerian politicians take advantage of the loopholes in the electoral system to perpetrate crimes.
This is as he said security operatives deployed on election duties cannot afford to be indifferent when their core responsibility revolves around ensuring law and order.
