1. Governorship Elections: See How APC, PDP Performed In 26 States

Nigeria’s electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday, March 24, declared four more winners of 2019 governorship elections in the country. The governors of Plateau, Benue, Sokoto, and Kano won re-elections after the conduct of supplementary polls in some local government areas of their states. Click for details.

2. INEC Declares Winner Of Kano Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, the winner of the Kano governorship election. Returning officer for the March 23 poll, Bello Shehu, announced that Ganduje of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 45,876 votes from the supplementary election as against 10,239 scored by Abba Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

3. Sokoto Governorship Election: What Tambuwal Said After Emerging Winner

Sokoto state governor Aminu Tambuwal has reiterated his desire to execute projects that would improve the living standards of the people of the northwest state. The governor made this known after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the Sokoto state governorship election.

4. PDP Rejects Final Kano Governorship Election Results

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says its candidate, Abba Yusuf, is the rightful winner of the Kano State governorship election. The party adds that any declaration that does not reflect such cannot stand, Concise News reports.

5. Benue Governorship Election: APC Rejects Results

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration of Governor Samuel Ortom as the winner of the Benue state governorship election. Ortom, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 434,473 votes to defeat APC’s Emmanuel Jime, who got 345,155 votes.

6. Sokoto Governorship Election Results Unacceptable – APC

Sokoto state Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the declaration of Governor Aminu Tambuwal as winner of the governorship election in the state. Nigeria’s electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday declared Tambuwal winner of the poll after Saturday’s supplementary contest with a slim margin of 342 votes.

7. Bauchi Election: PDP’s Bala Mohammed Maintains Lead After Collation

Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, has maintained clear lead in the supplementary governorship election held on Saturday. The supplementary elections were held in 36 polling units in 29 wards across 15 local government areas of Bauchi State. The results from the 15 LGAs as presented by the Local Government Returning Officers and also declared by the State Returning Officer, Prof. Kyari Mohammed, showed that Bala Mohammed got 6,376 votes.

8. Ikoyi Cash: EFCC Declares Former NIA DG Ayodele Oke, Wife Wanted

Nigeria’s anti-graft body, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has declared former director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Ayodele Oke and his wife, Folasade, wanted. Oke and his wife are wanted in connection with the sum of $43,449,947 as well as £27,800 and N23,218,000 cash recovered by the EFCC from an apartment at Osborne road in Ikoyi, Lagos state, in April 2017.

9. Russia Collusion: Mueller Report Released, Trump Reacts

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report says Donald Trump and his campaign did not conspire with Russia during the 2016 US presidential election. Concise News understands that summary of the report was submitted to Congress on Sunday. But the report, which was summarised for Congress by the attorney general, William Barr, did not draw a conclusion as to whether the US president illegally obstructed justice.

10. AFCON Qualifier: Amuneke Steers Tanzania To Historic Feat

The East African region will be fully represented at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt in June after Tanzania, under the tutelage of Nigerian legend, Emmanuel Amuneke, beat Uganda 3-0 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam to qualify. Concise News reports that heading into the final round of qualification matches, Tanzania needed to beat already-qualified Uganda and hope Lesotho fail to win against Cape Verde.
