Election Results: Ojev Speaks After Beating Akume In Benue North

Akume Loses Bid To Return To Senate

The Senator-elect for Benue North Orker Jev has said admitted that he still has a massive respect for Senator George Akume whom he defeated on Saturday.

Concise News understands that Jev of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 157, 726 to defeat Akume of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who polled 115, 422 votes to grab the Benue North seat.

However, while speaking after he was declared the winner of the election on Tuesday in Makurdi, Jev linked his win to the benevolence of Benue people.

According to him, the zoning formula in the state was one of the reasons he won the election to the Senate.

“It is nothing personal; he still remains my political leader,” he added.

“We both presented ourselves to the people to make choices and they preferred me. The senate seat is about service and I am prepared to do that.”
