MFM FC’s Adeniji Kabiru got his fourth goal of the abridged Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2018-19 season against Sunshine Stars on Matchday 10 at the Agege Stadium on Wednesday.
And his teammate Akanni Elijah has disclosed exclusively to Concise News after the game the secret to the forward’s opener.
Kabiru – brought in from Fabulous Strikers FC this term – unleashed a fantastic strike from the edge of the box after an interception by his teammate in the attacking third three minutes to the end of first half.

Ex-El Kanemi Warriors man Michael Ohanu sealed three points for the Olukoya Boys on the 67th minute with a stylish goal to ensure the Lagos-based side stay top of Group A.
By recording their fourth win, Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men extended their advantage to four points over new chasers Enyimba.

“He (Kabiru Adewole) is a very good attacking striker. While in training, our coach (Ilechukwu) used to give us ball one-on-one to score; to aim the goalpost, to shoot the ball. That is what we did in our last training and it paid off. So, I am happy for him for his goal. I believe he can still do more,” Elijah says.
On beating Owena Waves who were formerly placed second, Elijah explains confidence is high the MFM camp.
“We really thank God for today’s match because we know that we are going to beat Sunshine.”
Young Elijah made a 5-minute cameo in the match, coming on for Kenedinum Chuks in what is his seventh appearance of the season.
MFM’s next two matches are games they could secure (at least) four points from. Insurance of Benin is their opponent (first at the Soccer Temple, then away). Elijah tells Agege fans to expect nothing but victory.
“Against Insurance, Agege fans should expect a win – by God’s grace. The God of Olukoya that gave us today will do the next one for us. We are top now, I believe we can still do more than this.”
