2019 PFA Awards: Raheem Sterling Named Young Player Of The Year

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has been named PFA Young Player of the Year.

The award, which recognises the best player in the Premier League aged 23 or younger at the start of the season, is voted for by fellow professionals.

Sterling, now 24, has been recognised for a sensational season for City, which has already seen him win the League Cup, where he scored the decisive penalty in the final shoot-out against Chelsea, and could yet end with a domestic treble.

Under Pep Guardiola, Sterling has become one of the world’s most dangerous forward players, returning 23 goals and 17 assists in his 47 appearances for City so far this season.

He has also transferred that form into an England shirt, most notably when scoring twice in the memorable Nations League win over Spain last autumn, and then netting his first international hat-trick against the Czech Republic at Wembley last month.
