2019 AFCON: Mikel Obi Speaks On Playing At Competition

Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has confirmed that he will feature for the team at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Nigeria are paired in Group B of the competition taking place this summer in Egypt alongside Burundi, Madagascar and Guinea.

There have been speculations that the former Chelsea man who has not played for the three-time African champions since the 2019 World Cup will not feature at the tournament.

However, Mikel has said he will be available for selection for the team ahead of the competition.

“I met with Coach Rohr and we discussed his plans for the team in the forthcoming tournament,” he told AOIFootball.

“All I can say is that I am delighted and happy because I am coming to the Nations Cup.”
