Lobi Stars kept their lead at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League intact after edging hard-fighting El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0 on Sunday in Makurdi.

Samad Kadiri scored the only goal from the spot in the 66th minute to move the 1999 league champions to 30 points after 16 rounds of matches.

Elsewhere, second-paced Kano Pillars earned a vital 1-1 draw at Wikki Tourists thanks to a 29th minute expert finish by Ibrahim Alassan, after Nafiu Kabuga had given the Bauchi side the lead from the spot in the 22nd minute.

In other games, Rangers lost 1-0 at Niger Tornadoes, FC Ifeanyiubah were fantastic at home, beating Sunshine Stars 3-1; while Katsina United left it late before overcoming Rivers United 2-1 in a pulsating game.
