Despite a 2-1 win over El-Kanemi Warriors in Lafia, head coach of the Solid Miners Kabiru Dogo has decried his side’s poor conversion rate.

A brace by Adamu Hassan was enough to secure three points for United, which moved them to 8th in the NPFL table.

“I know to score two goals against an experienced side like El-Kanemi isn’t easy but we should have scored more,” Dogo said after the game.

“We have to go back to training and work on our goalscoring. The last time we created up to 20 chances yet scored only one.

“Today you saw how many chances we created. Yet it didn’t show on the scoreline,” he said added.

Wasteful

According to NPFL.ng, the biggest culprit of the day was Abdulrahman Bashir.

While Nasarawa pinned El-Kanemi to their own half with Zenke all over the place, Bashir lost two golden opportunities.

In the 7th minute, he was teed up by Zenke but he shot wide. Five minutes later, Hassan played him through and with the keeper at his mercy, he missed target again.

Those misses were assuaged by the fact that in the 5th minute, Hassan had latched unto a cross-field pass by Abubakar Ahmed to give Nasarawa the lead.

A minute after the restart, Hassan nodded in an exquisite cross by Zenke to extend the hosts’ lead.

Nasarawa goalie, Suraj Ayeleso, who succeeded in keeping Olawale’s effort away, couldn’t stop the resultant corner kick as Chibuzor Okonkwo’s corner was nodded in by Hashimu Haliru in the 53rd minute.

“The two goals were avoidable but the early goal threw my boys off balance. Congrats to Nasarawa. They are a compact team and they played well. They deserved to win, no doubt. We have to go back and work on the faults we noticed in our game today,” Dogo observed.
