The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said that he will not abandon the party for any other party despite the internal disputes allegedly rocking the party.

Tinubu made this known through a series of tweets on his official twitter handle (@AsiwajuTinubu) on Monday.

“In our Journey to national betterment, plans and policies will be made, then amended. Mistakes will occur and then corrected,” tweeted Tinubu.

“Achievements will be had & replicated. Through it all, I, Asiwaju will remain true to the progressive ideals that fueled the creation of APC.

Tinubu said his love for the people will not make him engage in petty destructive power play. He also stated that he laboured with others to build APC and has devoted his entire political life to service of the people.

“I have devoted my political life to achieve what has been achieved. My heart is too much of the people and my mind too fixed on establishing positive historic legacy rather than engage in destructive pettiness,” said Tinubu.

“This government, APC, is for the betterment of the people & the national purpose is bigger and more important than any individual’s desires.

“This is a party I labored with others to build. We would not abandon it for another. Millions of Nigerians who voted are watching and praying,” he added.

Implications

Tinubu’s latest statements will go a long way to ease tension among loyal supporters of the party who fear that the party stalwart may break out and form another mega party to oppose APC.

The statement also goes a long way to prove that Tinubu has sheathed his sword in his public war of words with party chairman, John Oyegun, which made him call for Oyegun’s resignation after the Ondo primaries.
