“l want to sincerely thank the NUJ for the good relationship that exists between the government and the media.

“I want to say that we have enjoyed a robust working relationship right from the eight years of former governor Adams Oshiomhole till this government. I want to encourage us to keep that working relationship.

“It is very important that we continue to interface with each other for better understanding,’’ he said.

Earlier, the State Chairman of NUJ, Roland Osakwe, congratulated the governor on his election victory.

Osakwe used the occasion to appeal to the governor to approve the union’s demand for the implementation of the Weigh-In Allowance for journalists in the state civil service.

“So that they can begin to enjoy the package which has since been approved by the National Salary and Wages Commission,” he said.

According to him, the union has a commitment to promote all polices and programmes of the new government through objective and balance reportage.
