Prophet TB Joshua’s US election prediction caused an uproar online after Trump win

The General Overseer of Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), Prophet TB Joshua, has been pressured by the Nigerian e-community into re-posting his misfired US election prediction about who will be elected as US President in the just concluded presidential election.

The revered religious leader based in Lagos, Nigeria, had earlier predicted that Hillary Clinton will emerge victorious over republican Donald Trump on the eve of the election.

Trump’s triumph in the November 8 poll, however, defied the prophet’s prediction. Nigerians, who have always doubted the source of the prophet’s power, consequently descended on the the prophet in what can be described as one of the most heated bashing on facebook.

This forced the social media team of the prophet to delete the facebook post where he made the prediction.

Intensified mockery

The post deletion greatly angered the Nigerian online community. It also resulted into intensified online attacks and mockery of the prophet and his church.

The backlash finally pressured the prophet into re-posting the prediction. The social media department of the church also sent an email to BBC explaining their decision to re-post the prediction.

The email states in part that the post was “mistakenly removed. It also states that it is not the policy of the church to carry out such acts.
